The Services

The services offered through UWiC can be divided into two main categories: free services, which can be accessed by anyone without going through an identification process, and reserved services, which can be accessed by going through identification and authorization steps. Information and communication services within the wireless campus fall into the category of free services, whereas access services to private networks connected to UWiC, Internet access and services provided by our partners for particular user categories fall within the category of reserved services. The University provides both free services (communication services, information and orientation services, online registration etc…) and reserved services (online courses, registrar services, electronic data banks, digital libraries etc…).

Service Accessibility
All services accessible within the wireless campus, regardless of the user’s location, are published on the server, whose IP address starts with 10.98.42.xx. Addresses with this initial code are managed centrally by UWiC and shared with all our partners, regardless of their respective address assignment policies. Hence, the server is directly visible from any point in UWiC. Of the three numbers in the initial code, the first (10) is individual in range of usable addresses for private networks. The remaining two numbers (98 and 42) correspond to the keys used to type “UWiC” on a numeric keyboard.
